Industrial Electrician

DPS Group are seeking to recruit an Industrial Electrician to join us on site at our busy Glenrothes headquarters.

  • Industrial Electrician

Position Overview 

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of electrical systems to conduct maintenance and fault-finding on existing systems. You will be responsible for electrical drawings and red lining them where required. You will install new electrical systems, including containment, glanding, terminating and testing to DPS/customer standards, while maintaining those systems and upholding safety guidelines, complying with current codes and regulations.

You will work in a way to minimise any health & safety, financial or technical risks associated with a project. As a technical figure on a client site/project, you will be interacting with the client, DPS and contract personnel across all areas of the project. You will assist with and understand the project/site requirements and bring them together with the aim of successful project delivery.The position is site based and may require working outwith normal operating hours.

Main purpose of the role 

This role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Report directly to the Project Manager/Engineer/Supervisor and work closely with them to continually develop DPS Groups presence on site

  • Work within an allocated budget, ensuring best practice to safely deliver a project within agreed timeframes, ensuring customer expectations are met

  • Liaise with and assist DPS Group core staff plus contractors as part of your overall responsibility for the safe delivery of projects

  • Work closely with the project team and management to ensure the solution provided is of minimum cost, while being technically acceptable and in accordance with the client specifications, current legislation and the companies offer

  • Assist with the day-to-day delivery of projects, while working safely and in accordance with programme requirements, project specifications and DPS Group procedures

  • Maintain a good understanding of project requirements, following planning and personnel work packs, and reacting to any changes that may occur

Position Requirements 

  • Must have completed an Electrical Modern Apprenticeship in an industrial environment

  • Must have obtained an NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work (or approved equivalent)

  • Must have obtained a pass in the City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Installation Theory Part 2 Course (Select 209 & 214 Inspection & Testing, Inc Periodic Insp & Testing BS767 or approved equivalent)

  • Must have completed, obtained and retained the current BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations qualification

  • Further development and training to complete a HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering would be preferred
